Certification Process

The Master Black Belt program consists of two essential steps:

Step1: Portfolio Review – Validate Your Experience
Before appearing for the examination, applicants is required to submit a detailed portfolio of  Lean Six Sigma projects, mentoring experience, and professional achievements. This portfolio is reviewed and approved by AASSQLM to confirm eligibility for the examination.

Step2: Certification Examination – Demonstrate Mastery
Once the portfolio is approved, one can take the Master Black Belt Certification Examination, which evaluates expertise in advanced Lean Six Sigma tools, strategic implementation, and leadership skills.

Objectives

  • Assess advanced understanding of Lean Six Sigma principles and enterprise deployment.
  • Evaluate the ability to mentor and coach Black Belts and Green Belts.
  • Recognize leaders capable of managing large-scale improvement portfolios.
  • Strengthen expertise in statistical tools, project governance, and strategic planning.
  • Build leadership capacity for long-term organizational excellence.

Eligibility Criteria:

This certification is open to professionals who:

  • Hold an AASSQLM Black Belt Certification or any other equivalent, globally  recognized black belt certification.
  • Have led or mentored multiple Lean Six Sigma projects.
  • Possess experience in quality management, operations leadership, or process optimization.
  • Are committed to developing and deploying Lean Six Sigma strategies organization-wide.

Examination Details:

Mode: Online
Format: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) + Case-Based Scenarios
Duration: 180 Minutes
Number of Questions: 100
Passing Score: 70% and above
Open Book: Yes
Retake Policy: Candidates who do not pass the examination on their first attempt may retake it after a minimum waiting period of 15 days and within one year from the date of the initial attempt. The retake examination fee will be 50% of the prevailing examination fee applicable at the time of the retake.

Carefully go through the Master Black Belt Portfolio Review requirements and gather all necessary project and experience documents.
Submit Your Portfolio for Approval
Upload your portfolio through the AASSQLM LMS Portal for review. Only approved portfolios can proceed to the certification examination.
Register for the Certification Examination
Once your portfolio is approved, register for the Master Black Belt Certification Examination via the LMS portal.
Take the Examination
Appear for the examination to demonstrate your advanced Lean Six Sigma expertise, leadership, and strategic process improvement skills.
